At OPSM, we accept all Australian health funds. We also process claims on the spot for most health funds, so you can get the glasses you really love.
How much you can claim
How much you can claim depends on which health fund you are with, your level of cover, waiting periods, and prior claims. You can speak with your health fund or pop into your nearest store, and we can help you figure it out.
What you can claim
Your health care optical extras benefits can be used for glasses, contact lenses, and even prescription sunglasses. Up to 85% of our sunglasses at OPSM can be fitted with prescription lenses.
When your health insurance benefits renew
You can claim your health insurance optical extras benefits at any time of the year. However, it is important to note that most health funds don’t roll over any unused benefits when your insurance renews. Ask your health fund to find out when your benefits renew.
*Subject to your particular level of health cover, available limit and health funds rules. Each health fund rebate is different, some have annual benefits based on financial year (1 July to 30 June), so it’s a good idea to check your plan and see what you’re entitled to. Excludes eye tests and contact lens consultations.

Yes, you can claim your health fund rebates online using Tyro Health, subject to your health fund’s policies, waiting periods, annual limits and your level of extras cover. Tyro Health provides a convenient and efficient way to claim rebates when purchasing online, from certain health funds in real-time. By using the Tyro Health portal, eligible patients can instantly claim their benefits and receive rebates directly into their bank account.
Currently, online you can claim your health fund rebate on prescription glasses, prescription sunglasses and contact lenses as one-off purchases through Tyro Health, subject to your health fund’s policies, waiting periods, annual limits and your level of extras cover.
