Say Goodbye to Dry Eyes - Discover the New Eye-Light Treatment

Dry Eye Disease (DED) is a common condition where your eyes don’t produce enough quality tears to stay properly lubricated. This can lead to discomfort, blurred vision, and even long-term eye damage if left untreated.
It affects people of all ages but becomes more prevalent with age or lifestyle factors.
The good news is OPSM’s new Eye-Light Device targets the cause of the condition and around 95%* of dry eye sufferers reported reduced symptoms. To find out if you are a candidate for this treatment talk to your optometrist for a comprehensive dry eye assessment.

Introducing Eye-Light: Advanced Dry Eye Therapy

Dry Eye Disease affects millions** — and OPSM now offers a breakthrough solution. Our Eye-Light device uses the latest light-based technology to treat dry eyes at the source, not just the symptoms.

While drops and warm compresses offer temporary relief, Eye-Light works by heating the oil glands in your eyelids, also known as the Meibomian glands. This heat unblocks the glands offering longer lasting relief and reducing the need for eye drops.

Eye-Light combines two powerful, pain-free treatments:

  • LLLT (Low-Level Light Therapy) - Gentle red light warms your eyelids, unblocking oil glands and improving tear quality. Sessions are relaxing, take just 15 minutes
  • IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) - delivers light pulses that reduce inflammation and clear gland blockages. This helps restore the natural oil flow in your tears for more stable and comfortable eyes

Success with Eye-Light

Over 95%* of patients treated with the Eye-Light device reported noticeable relief from dry eye symptoms, with many experiencing lasting improvement after just a few sessions.

Benefits of Eye-Light Therapy

  • Non-invasive and pain-free
  • No downtime needed
  • Clinically proven relief for dry eye symptoms
  • Improves long-term eye comfort and tear film stability

What causes Dry Eye?

The Meibomian Glands are located inside your eyelids, these glands produce tears that keep your eyes healthy. If they deteriorate, they may fail to create a tear film that is strong enough to protect your eyes from drying. Meibomian Gland Dysfunction (MGD) is thought to cause the majority of Dry Eye disease.

Do you have dry eyes?

Dry eye symptoms can be subtle or severe and often include:

  • Burning, stinging, or gritty sensations
  • Redness and irritation
  • Irritated eyes when wearing contact lenses
  • Watery eyes (a reflex from dryness)
  • Light sensitivity
  • Blurred or fluctuating vision
  • Eye fatigue or discomfort after screen use

Contributing Factors for Dry Eye

You may be more prone to dry eye if you:

  • Spend long hours on digital screens
  • Wear contact lenses regularly
  • Live in dry or windy climates
  • Are over the age of 50
  • Take certain medications
  • Have underlying health conditions
  • Have undergone eye surgery
  • Hormonal Imbalance

FAQs

Low-Level Light Therapy (LLLT) is a gentle, light-based treatment that helps your eyes produce better-quality tears. It works by using soothing red light to warm the skin around your eyelids. This light stimulates the tiny oil glands in your eyelids (called Meibomian glands), which are often blocked in people with dry eyes.
LLLT is safe, non-invasive, and relaxing. Each session takes about 15 minutes, and many patients feel relief after just a few treatments.
IPL is a non-invasive painless treatment where pulses of light gently warm the skin around the glands in your eyelids, helping to melt any blockages. This encourages the natural release of oil into the tears, which helps stabilise and improve the quality of tear film.
There are no specific contraindications to this light therapy if used in isolation. As a precaution, you should not be treated with LLLT if you have any known photosensitivity to yellow and red light or if there is a history of light activated central nervous system disorders like epilepsy.
If you take any dermatologically prescribed medications (such as Roaccutane) or photosensitive medications, please let your optometrist know.
