What is a remote Eye Test?
A remote eye test allows our optometrists to conduct a comprehensive examination remotely; it seamlessly integrates advanced technology with expert eye care to connect you digitally with an OPSM optometrist located in a metro location.
What does it include?
A comprehensive remote eye test includes detailed assessments of the health of the front and back of your eyes.
It also includes remote refraction to ensure your eyewear prescription remains up to date.
Is it the right choice for you
While a remote eye test is suitable for most eye examinations, certain conditions may necessitate in-person consultations, including:
- Experiencing flashes or floaters in your vision
- Sudden vision loss
- Red, painful eyes
- Eye injuries
- First time contact lens fitting
- Paediatric eye tests (children <6 years old)
If any of these apply to you, please inform our staff so we can assess whether an in-person consultation would suit better.
DISCLAIMER:
A remote eye test is not a substitute for, nor is it intended to replace, in-person eye tests, and that it may not be appropriate in all cases, particularly in case of a serious condition or issue requiring a face-to-face diagnosis. While OPSM makes every reasonable effort to seek to ensure the standard of care in a remote eye test is the same as that for an in-person eye test, there are risks and limitations with remote eye tests as compared to in-person eye tests. This includes the inherent design limitations in telehealth and remote eye test equipment, and that the lack of in-person interaction and physical examination can result in less accurate diagnosis, including an increased risk that a serious, degenerative optical condition in its early stages may not be detected by remote eye test equipment; if you experience any deterioration or discomfort with your vision or your eyes after a telehealth consultation, you will immediately seek in-person medical attention.
OPSM collects, uses, protects and discloses your personal information in accordance with its privacy policy which is available at opsm.com.au/privacy-policy.
By continuing you agree to proceeding with your remote optometry appointment with OPSM, the above Disclaimer and to our Privacy Policy.
