ONE DARK MINUTE
Everyday your eyes are privy to new sights and surroundings, so imagine if all you could see was darkness. Our research has found that 9 out of 10* Aussies, fear losing their sight above any other of the five senses. However, even with this concern, over half^ admitted they would not get their eyes tested- even if their GP recommended it.
At OPSM, we are on a journey to improve the nation’s vision and raise awareness of eye health. That’s why we’ve joined forces with our eye care charity, OneSight whose global mission is to eradicate preventable blindness in our lifetime. This is why we created the movement – One Dark Minute.
One Dark Minute - encourages Australian’s to close their eyes for one minute and imagine what their world would be like without their greatest sense, sight. Join us for One Dark Minute – a campaign to raise awareness of the vision crisis in Australia.
OUR PALM ISLAND VISIT
OneSight recently visited Palm Island, off the coast of Townsville, to offer an eye screening clinic for local residents and for the Bwgcolman Community School. OPSM Townsville optometrist, Shannon Peckham who features in our HELP US HELP OTHERS campaign accompanied OneSight on this clinic. Watch the video below to discover more.
“OPSM gives me the opportunity to do work with OneSight and give back to my local community. One reason I love OPSM. It’s not just about the glasses; it’s what more you can do for the community.”
